Marina Tchebourkina | |||||
| Moscow-born Marina Tchebourkina studied music at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in her native city, where she was awarded many first prizes (classical and modern harmony, analysis of musical forms, counterpoint and fugue, history of music, organ...). In 1989 she obtained her diploma in organ and musicology with distinction. In 1991, after following the advanced organ course, she received the prix d’excellence. In 1994 she was unanimously awarded a doctorate summa cum laude for her thesis on the organ works of Olivier Messiaen.
She completed her musical training in France with Marie-Claire Alain, Michel Chapuis and Louis Robillard, and in Germany with Harald Vogel. During fifteen years Marina Tchebourkina has been organist of the Royal Chapel, Versailles, with Michel Chapuis. As an international concert artist, she performs all over the world. She gives many recitals in Russia and also masterclasses in French music of the Classical period at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Worldwide she regularly gives recitals on historic organs, and takes part in numerous festivals. |
Her recordings have met with unanimous acclaim from the press and have received several awards. She has also taken part in radio broadcasts in France and other countries. In 2005, in appreciation of her work as interpreter and musicologist, she has been made a chevalier of the Arts and Letters by the French Minister of Culture. In 2006, she has been appointed as member of the National Historical Organs Commission (France). In 2010 for the Tercentenary of the Royal Chapel of Versailles she published the first book about the history of the Royal Chapel organ. For her recitals Marina Tchebourkina is proposing different kinds of musical programs combining different eras and styles. She shows a special interest for the work of the French masters of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries. She equally created an original program of Russian music of the XIX-XXIth centuries. |
